Why You Would Need a Custody Evaluation

What Is The Custody Evaluation Process
There are multiple steps to a custody evaluation that NEED to be followed in the proper order. Guiding Kindness Therapy will support you at each step.

We will have an assessment meeting that includes telling your story and any appropriate psych assessments. Please leave about 3 hours available for this session.
We will contact individuals who can share your story and speak about you as a person and go through helpful additional pieces of paperwork and any you deem important for us to know.
Any attorneys and the court will receive an evaluation with recommendations for the parents/guardians and for the child/children involved.

Custody evaluations go to the court and attorneys so that if any questions or concerns come up, there is an evaluation that looks at multiple aspects including psychological testing to support any discussions or concerns.

It is important that we evaluation all involved in a custody evaluation so the entire family will be spoken to. We may also reach out to the schools the children are in (with permission).

Guiding Kindness Therapy is thorough in our approach to evaluations which include sessions of speaking, interviewing outside sources, and conducting psychological evaluations. Our conclusions take about 12 weeks to finish when a child custody evaluation is needed.

As part of any custody evaluation, we also do psychological evaluations to offer suggestions on strengths and any recommendations we may have for the child/ren’s well-being.
